Because of its completely different look, the Cooperative Education website did not appear it was a part of Seattle Central Community College.
To solve this problem, I created a banner, added images for visual interest, and used colors found on the main college website.
I assessed the organization of the existing content and designed an information architecture to clearly define where users will find information they are looking for.
This visual design comp illustrates a simple layout using some of the same colors found on the main SCCC site. The banner, vertical navigation, and use of a serif font also echo design elements from the college's larger web presence.
Once the visual design was set, I began building the site by writing a master stylesheet, then I coded the content pages using XHTML and PHP to accomodate the contact form.
I updated the content of the Service-Learning website. Additionally, I worked within the existing tabled-based layout and hand-coded 2 forms that participating agencies can fill out and submit online.
